The Faculty of Architecture at CTU has launched the first phase of its new website, which was previously available in a test version. The new website is part of an effort not only to improve the presentation of the school but primarily to enhance communication between the faculty, students, and the public. The new website, with its clean white design, is intended to be a compact source of current information as well as an extensive archive of events at the faculty, which faculty staff can easily manage using an administrative system. In the first phase, an integral part is a gallery of student projects linked with the pages of the individual institutes and studios of the faculty. Another feature is news and a calendar that will highlight important events throughout the school year. In later planned phases, functionalities such as the ability to sign up for studios and submit works via the web interface, or discussion forums, are expected to be added. The elegant combination of function and design has resulted in clear pages with a solid internal logic that makes navigation easier even for first-time visitors. Appropriate graphics do not distract with unnecessary embellishments; the pages are primarily a source of information that enhances the design itself. Dalibor Hlaváček was tasked with preparing the new pages. The authors of the design, implementation, and content management system are the Graphic Design Workshop led by Petr Knobloch and Tomáš Celizna. Their other projects include, for example, the web presentation of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague and the Moravian Gallery.
