New apartments are as expensive in Prague as in Berlin

Prague - The prices of new apartments in Prague are comparable to Berlin and are the highest in Central Europe. The Czech capital is also one of the few European cities where the prices of new housing exceed the country's average by more than double. This is according to the results of a study published today by Deloitte.
     For a square meter of new apartment in the Czech metropolis, an average of 2500 euros was paid last year according to Deloitte, which is about 64,000 crowns. The most expensive of the studied cities in 2011 was Paris, where a comparable area of a new apartment cost an average of 8000 euros (approximately 204,000 crowns). Conversely, the cheapest was in Budapest, where last year the price per square meter was 940 euros (approximately 24,000 crowns).
        To purchase an apartment, a Czech with an average income needs about seven gross annual salaries, which is similar to the time required in the United Kingdom or the Netherlands. In Denmark, people need only 2.4 times the average annual gross income to buy housing, while in France, one needs to have 9.1 times that amount. Deloitte examined housing prices in 12 European countries in 2010 and 2011.
