Verneřice (Děčín Region) – The tallest concrete transmitter in the Czech Republic began construction nearly fifty years ago. From Buková Hora near Verneřice in the Děčín region, the Elbe Valley, the Czech Central Highlands, and the Ore Mountains can be seen. The wishes of some tourists to make it accessible will not be fulfilled in the near future.

"The Buková Hora transmitter is still a transmitter, and it broadcasts terrestrial digital television and radio signals," said Petra Miterová, spokesperson for Czech Radiocommunications, to ČTK. No change in usage is planned in the near future.

The prominent structure above the Elbe Valley between Ústí nad Labem and Děčín is 223 meters tall. "Originally, there was a different transmitter on the hill, which was demolished in the 1960s after a fire. Then proposals for a new one were created. One of them was designed by architect Karel Hubáček, the author of the transmitter on Ještěd," said Ústí historian Martin Krsek to ČTK. Hubáček's progressive design ultimately was not realized.

The original plan to create a restaurant on the upper floor of the transmitter has also been abandoned. Tourists can still only reach the transmitter; access to the interior is not possible for now.
