Hradec Králové - The long-planned construction of a joint headquarters for the district court and the public prosecutor's office in Náchod could begin at the turn of this year and next year. Milan Bořek, the chairman of the Hradec Králové Regional Court, told ČTK. The intention to build a new building for the Náchod court was conceived 25 years ago and has been postponed several times in recent years. According to Bořek, the selection procedure for the construction company could be announced by mid-year. "Until now, money for the construction has been sought at the Ministry of Justice. Now it looks promising," he said. If everything goes smoothly, the new building, estimated to cost between 120 and 160 million Czech crowns, could be completed in two and a half years. Both judicial institutions in Náchod are currently located in inadequate premises in the former district office and in the employment office building. The new building is to rise in the Bílá růže area in the center of Náchod. The largest judicial construction project in eastern Bohemia is the construction of a new regional court in Pardubice for approximately 600 million crowns. The judicial complex could be built in Pardubice by 2012, housing the regional and district court along with the regional and district public prosecutor's office. Currently, the regional court branch, which has been in Pardubice since 2003, is located in a rented building.
