Jihlava - Today, an exhibition called Socholití 2008 - a selection of artworks created at the Sculpture and Foundry Symposium in Štěpánov nad Svratkou has started in the courtyard of the Vysočina regional office in Jihlava. They were created by students of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, the Faculty of Architecture at VUT in Brno, and from the AAAD in Prague. "The Sculpture and Foundry Symposium took place in the Štěpánov foundries for the third year this year, and its goal is to present the gray alloy in a slightly different light than just as a material suitable for the interiors or exteriors of buildings," said the region's spokesperson Eva Neuwirthová to ČTK. The organizers aim to showcase the black trade as art and motivate young people to study technical fields at secondary and higher schools. Starting next year, individual artworks made from the alloy will be created directly to order for a pre-selected location or for a specific purpose. The Socholití 2008 exhibition will be in the courtyard of the regional office in Jihlava until November 21.
