On the site of the Přerov Commune, a Tesco supermarket will be built

Přerov - In the place of the former Přerov monument, the community house Komuna, which was demolished by its owner against the wishes of the Ministry of Culture, a supermarket will likely be built. The company Tesco intends to construct it. Many people are not pleased with the plan, reports today's Přerov Daily (Deník).
According to Jiří Just, the head of the building office of the Přerov municipality, nothing prevents the issuance of a construction permit. "Currently, the construction proceedings are underway, and if no major issues arise, we will issue the permit by the end of the week," Just stated. He mentioned that the construction of the store could begin in the summer.
People living close to the future supermarket have divided into two camps. Many are glad that they are no longer threatened by the ruins and that something will finally happen in the area. Others refuse to accept the construction of another market in the city center.
"I am not excited about it at all; we do not need such a store here. A few steps from here is Albert, and a bit further is Delvita. Moreover, Tesco operates seven days a week, and if there is a parking lot here, traffic will increase significantly," said a resident of one of the houses on Trávník Street.
The former community workers' house Komuna has become the center of media attention in recent months due to the rapid demolition of the building, which was declared a cultural monument in 1963. The Minister of Culture Václav Jehlička even personally came to the city to address the situation. However, despite the local residents' objections, the building was eventually demolished.
