Prague - The Ministry of Culture should operate next year with a budget approximately 870 million crowns higher than this year. Its total spending is expected to be around 12.6 billion crowns. The chapter proposal was supported today by the parliamentary cultural committee without changes, said its reporter Roman Procházka (ANO).

The ministry plans to send 5.9 billion crowns to its contributory organizations, which is about 900 million more year-on-year. Of this, one billion crowns, the same as this year, will go to the program for the care of the national cultural heritage. The ministry should have 658 million crowns in the budget for the restoration of cultural monuments, which would increase the item by 31 million compared to the budget approved for this year.

Funding for cultural services and support for live art should increase by almost 54 million to 742.3 million crowns. Support for professional theatres and permanent professional symphonic orchestras and choirs will rise from approximately 91.7 million to 160 million crowns. On the other hand, the budget for cultural activities is expected to decrease by about 14.4 million, amounting to 522.3 million crowns.

Procházka stated that within live arts, the ministry has increased the item for supporting professional festivals from 45 million to 100 million crowns. In previous years, the Parliament had mainly debated direct support for significant music festivals.

The ministry's budget for expenditures on churches will decrease by about 60 million to 3.37 billion crowns. While the amount of money for compensation for unissued property in church restitutions will slightly increase to over two billion crowns, contributions to support the activities of churches will fall to 1.3 billion crowns.
