Prague - Interested parties will once again have the opportunity to see a unique projection directly on the Old Town Hall, also known as video mapping, this evening in the center of Prague. The projection will showcase not only the construction of this monument but also significant moments in Czech history. It will begin at 20:00. It will also be available on additional Saturdays in September and October.
The so-called video mapping, or projection on buildings, is gaining increasing popularity. This form of art is particularly popular abroad. The Old Town Hall first became a projection surface last autumn when it celebrated its 600th anniversary. It was projected again in spring.
The computer animation that will be projected onto the building was created by the Czech artistic group The Macula. Interested viewers will see a ten-minute audiovisual piece showcasing the construction of the astronomical clock from the architectural plan, through the stonemasonry work of Petr Parléř, to the placement of the calendar by Josef Mánes. The projection will also touch on the Hussite Wars, the execution of Czech lords in Old Town Square in 1621, and the damage to the clock during the liberation of Prague in 1945.
