The dam over the Novomlýnské reservoirs will be closed from today until December

Brno - The bridge on the road from Brno to Vienna over the Novomlýnské reservoirs is closed from today, so that road workers can build a new one. It is expected to be open by mid-December. Drivers must detour the impassable section via lower-class roads. A different detour is designated for each direction.

The bridge needs to be replaced with a new one because it was in a state of disrepair. It will also include a separate bike path. Last year, road workers installed a temporary bridge on the existing one, but it could only be used at a limited speed. Similar temporary structures are also in Drnholec and Brod nad Dyjí on detour routes, where the maximum speed is 20 kilometers per hour.

The detour from Brno will start after Nová Ves, then proceed through Drnholec, Novosedly, Dobré Pole, and Březí to Mikulov. In the opposite direction, after Mikulov, drivers will turn to Dolní Dunajovice and continue through Brod nad Dyjí to Nová Ves, where they will rejoin the main road. Road workers will monitor traffic on the detour routes in the first few days to see how it looks and whether any signage changes are necessary. It is also likely that some trucks will travel from Vienna to the highway junction in Brno via Bratislava and the D2 highway to avoid narrow roads.
