Prague - The Ministry for Regional Development (MMR) will support the restoration of small sacred buildings in rural areas with 50 million crowns. Small municipalities with up to three thousand residents can apply for the grant until June 25, spokesperson for the ministry Veronika Vároši informed today. The funding comes from the subprogram Support for the Restoration and Development of Rural Areas.

"The restoration of monuments is a long-discussed topic. With this grant program, we can contribute to the restoration of small sacred monuments in rural municipalities that are not owned by the church. This includes chapels, small chapels, wayside shrines, or crosses," stated Minister for Regional Development Karla Šlechtová (for ANO).
Municipalities can apply for the grant if their representatives have approved a strategic development document. If the sacred monument lies in the cadastral area of multiple municipalities, the application should be submitted by the association of municipalities.
Grants can cover up to 70 percent of the actually incurred eligible costs, with a minimum request of 50,000 crowns. The maximum grant for one project is 300,000 crowns.
More information can be found on the MMR website.
