Prague - The Ministry for Regional Development is counting on increasing support for municipal investments. After a government meeting, which decided on a one-time contribution to municipalities of 1200 crowns per inhabitant, this was stated by the Minister for Regional Development Klára Dostálová (for ANO). The ministry has a total of 3500 projects in its portfolio. Today, the office announced a call for funding the construction of sports stadiums in municipalities with up to 10,000 inhabitants. It plans to spend 150 million crowns with the possibility of increasing it to 350 million crowns. "Here too, I expect high demand," said Dostálová.

According to Dostálová, the range of projects in the ministry's portfolio includes a wide variety, from repairs of local roads to the construction of fire stations, cultural houses, sports facilities, infrastructure, and the building of nursing homes.

In 2019 and 2020, the Ministry for Regional Development announced calls under national grant programs that were primarily targeted at municipalities with up to 3000 inhabitants, mainly for the construction, reconstruction, and modernization of municipal property, but also for housing support, the creation of zoning plans, and support for the development of tourism infrastructure.

According to the ministry, there has been long-term strong interest from municipalities in these areas of support. However, the ministry could not support them due to a lower total amount of allocated funds. Last year, municipalities unsuccessfully applied for support totaling 1.808 billion crowns. "For 2020, there is currently a demand surplus in the calls of the mentioned programs amounting to 1.971 billion," stated the office. A total of 3.7 billion crowns has been requested for an increase in funds.
