MfD: Pardubice abandoned the construction of the riding arena

Pardubice - The equestrian hall at the Pardubice racetrack, which the city intended to build, will no longer be constructed. The city council will not build it themselves, and the European Union will not provide the necessary funds, writes the daily Mladá fronta Dnes in its supplement for the Pardubice region.
    The city had several projects, one for 160 million crowns and another for 70 million crowns. They leaned more towards the cheaper option. However, they would not have received more than 40 percent in grants from the European Union, and the remainder would have to be paid by the city council.
    "In this economic situation, unfortunately, it was not possible, which is why we abandoned the project," said Deputy Mayor Štěpánka Fraňková.
    According to the deputy mayor, however, it would be possible to obtain European funds under a different grant title if the racetrack achieved the status of a national cultural monument. With the funds, engineering networks that are missing at the racetrack would be supplemented, the stands repaired, or gas supplied, which is lacking at the hippodrome.
    "We have information that the European Commission takes a liking to these monuments and is generous towards them," said Fraňková.
