Prague - The footbridge over Petržílková Street in Prague 13 is in a state of emergency. In its lower part, there are rusted and loose metal sheets that may detach. The city council of the municipal district discovered the poor technical condition of the footbridge this June. Therefore, it contacted the Technical Administration of Roads, which confirmed the unsatisfactory condition and stated that the footbridge requires repairs. This was stated by the municipal district on its website. The footbridge is owned by the capital city. According to the spokesperson of the Prague City Hall, Tadeáš Provazník, repairs could begin soon.

In mid-June, the city council approached the city hall to ensure urgent repairs to the footbridge, which poses a risk of the loose metal sheets detaching and falling onto the sidewalk or roadway in stronger winds. "The sheets are loose from below, so the upper part, which people walk on, is not affected," said city district spokesperson Eva Libigerová to ČTK.

"At this moment, we are coordinating the possible repairs with the Technical Administration of Roads. It is still uncertain when the repairs could begin, but it should be soon,"
said Provazník.

On the website, the municipal district stated that it reached out to the mayor's deputy Petr Dolínek (ČSSD) in June, but the request remained unanswered. For this reason, it contacted the city hall again at the end of August and the beginning of September, requesting expedited action. "However, our urgencies have remained unanswered to this day. We firmly believe that the city hall will act as soon as possible," stated the mayor of Prague 13, David Vodrážka (ODS), to ČTK. According to Dolínek, the bridge is under the jurisdiction of the councilor for property, Karel Grabein Procházka (ANO).

Prague has long-standing issues with the condition of its bridges and footbridges. Last December, a footbridge collapsed between Císařský Ostrov and Troja, and the Libeň Bridge was closed for several weeks because it required support. The Hlávka Bridge and Palacký Bridge also need repairs, and the reconstruction of the Barrandov Bridge is planned. Due to its poor condition, the footbridge over the Berounka River in Radotín also needed reinforcement in April.

Prague 13 encompasses most of the cadastral area of Stodůlky and parts of the cadastral areas of Jinonice, Třebonice, and Řeporyje.
