Krnov – The Krnov Town Hall in Bruntál region is considering the construction of a new health center. The original building on Žižkov Street was destroyed by a flood in September last year. The project, worth approximately 75 million crowns, will only proceed if the city obtains a grant from the state. This was reported today by the town spokesperson Dita Círová.
"In the open space on Žižkov Street, which was created after the demolition of the health center, the city plans to build a new modern facility. The original building from the 1970s was recommended for demolition by structural engineers due to severe damage caused by the flood. The floodwater damaged the structure of the steel construction and shifted the beams," said Círová.
The planned facility will again serve as a healthcare institution. "The intention is to build new offices with a higher capacity. At the same time, this construction will complement the planned revitalization of the public space in front of Žižkov Elementary School," said city architect Marek Juránek.
The new health center will be built using modern modular technology. "These are not containers, but special modules that allow for rapid construction and variable solutions. The modules are already manufactured with internal fittings, including cladding, flooring, and sanitary facilities," stated Juránek.
The city has already commissioned the development of an architectural study. It is expected to be completed by the beginning of February. Subsequently, the proposal along with the cost estimate will be presented to the city council. "The actual assembly of the modules can be completed in just one month. The speed of modular construction is the reason why we want to go this route," the architect said.
The two-story building is expected to offer, on an area of 1100 m², not only healthcare facilities but also space for a commercial unit or services. The estimated investment costs range between 60 to 75 million crowns. "We will only proceed with the investment if we are successful with the grant application in the Disaster 1 program for the renewal of municipal assets after the flood. Without state support, we will not have the funds and will likely seek a private investor to build the health center here," said Mayor Tomáš Hradil (Krnov Patriots).
