Hradec Králové - The Regional Office of Hradec Králové Region has allocated 15 million Czech crowns this year for grants for the restoration of cultural monuments. The money was distributed among approximately a hundred applicants, said the spokesperson of the regional office, Imrich Dioszegi, to ČTK today.

For example, 450,000 crowns were released by the region for the static securing of the vaults in St. Nicholas Church in Žíželevsi in the Hradec area, which is unique for its vaulted ceiling, a rarity among Baroque rural churches. The region supported repairs to this church last year, when a project for the repairs was developed along with a building-historical survey.
A total of 400,000 crowns will allow for the replacement of windows in the former Grand Hotel in the center of Hradec Králové, while 350,000 crowns were donated by the region for the continuation of the roof reconstruction of St. Nicholas Church in Týniště nad Orlicí in the Rychnov area.
"We expect that this year the Hradec Králové Region will invest more than 20 million crowns into monuments, which is approximately one million crowns more than last year," said the regional councilor of Hradec Králové Region, Zdeněk Kraus. In addition to grants, the region will support the repairs of certain monuments from other sources. This year, there were 184 applicants for grants for monument restoration in Hradec Králové Region, with the condition that applicants also invest their own funds into the monument renovations.
