Kolín - Kolín has transformed the historically protected water tower into a lookout tower. The interior of the tower is currently being equipped and internal exhibitions and technology are being prepared, said Martin Tichý, head of the Kolín regional development department, to ČTK. The reconstruction cost eight million crowns. The lookout tower has been approved and should be open to the public in September. The repairs of the technical monument will be largely funded by grants from European funds. "The water tower itself is architecturally interesting, but of course the internal exhibitions, which will complement the building itself, will also certainly attract visitors. It will inform about the history of the building, the history of technical infrastructure in the region, and refer in an interesting way to other attractions in the vicinity," Tichý told ČTK. The first balcony of the tower is barrier-free and will offer visitors projections from the upper floor through cameras placed at the lookout. In the former water reservoir, tourists can expect a video projection on the theme of water. The highest spaces will also be equipped with modern technology. The basic admission to the lookout tower will be 50 crowns, children from six to 15 years old and seniors will pay 30 crowns. Children under six and persons with ZTP cards will have free entry. The Kolín water tower is one of the city's landmarks. Until now, it had been empty and was not utilized. It was built in 1930 as a work of architects František Janda and Jan Hráský. The original owner, the water management company, sold it years ago to a private individual, who then sold it to another interested party. In the meantime, the building fell into disrepair. In the end, it was acquired by the city.
