The library allows for the modification of the study of the new building or a different location

Prague - The proposal by architect Jan Kaplický for the construction of a new building for the National Library (NK) in Prague's Letná could be adjusted. If it were still not possible to build the library at this location, another site would likely be sought. This was stated by the director of the National Library, Vlastimil Ježek, at today’s press conference.
The majority of municipal representatives from the ODS party, who hold a complete majority in the assembly, are against the construction of the library according to Kaplický's design in Letná. If this is indeed the case, according to Ježek, the National Library is unable to push through the construction.
A shift in the discussions is expected from a meeting between Mayor Pavel Bém (ODS), Deputy Minister of Culture František Mikeš, and Ježek. According to the library's director, this will likely happen very soon. "We must find a solution," said Ježek. He also noted that there was no commitment in the competition that the building must be constructed according to the winning project.
