The Klánovice residents will protest today against the golf course

Prague - Opponents of the construction of a golf course in Klánovice Forest will protest today in front of the Prague City Hall at Mariánské Square. Some local residents and the leadership of the Klánovice town hall oppose the plan by the company Forest Golf Resort Prague (FGRP). The other side, on the other hand, considers the campaign against the course to be hysterical and disinformative. The protest rally will start at 5:00 PM, and the participants expect to demonstrate for about two hours.
    The people of Klánovice want to achieve a change in the zoning plan through the protest. They demand that the forest be designated as a forest area instead of its current classification as recreational and sports areas. After the change, the construction of the course would no longer be possible. The municipal council is set to discuss this on September 20. Opponents of the change, on the other hand, warn that then hunters could use the forest and endanger visitors with shooting.
    FGR intends to build a nine-hole course on 16 hectares of Klánovice Forest, thus reviving the pre-war golf tradition. Local residents fear, however, that this will only be the beginning and that the company wants to build additional structures and courses in the forest. FGRP denies this.
    Klánovice Forest is part of the Klánovice Forest - Čihadla Nature Park. It covers an area of 900 hectares. It is home to many rare plants and animals.
