Karlovy Vary – The city of Karlovy Vary will amend the regulation on noisy activities and the protection of nighttime peace. Work on public benefit constructions could continue even on Sundays and holidays. The new wording of the regulation still needs to be approved by the city council, the mayor Andrea Pfeffer Ferklová told reporters today.
"The regulation prohibits noisy work on Sundays and holidays. However, this limited us on certain constructions that could not perform building work on those days. Currently, for example, on the construction of the new Dvorský Bridge," said the mayor.
According to the current regulation, all work involving the use of devices and instruments that cause noise, such as lawn mowers, circular saws, chainsaws, demolition hammers, etc., must be avoided on Sundays and officially recognized public holidays from 06:00 to 08:00 and from 12:00 to 22:00.
The city has requested a binding directive from the Ministry of the Interior, according to which some constructions can be designated as public benefit and thus exempted from the rules of the regulation. This could also apply to other constructions in the future, especially those carried out by the city.
The change to the regulation must still be approved by the city council at the end of April. It should then come into effect on May 6, after the deadlines for posting on the official notice board have passed.
