Brno - The Regional Authority of the South Moravian Region will have a new branch on Cejl Street in Brno. The empty building was acquired by the region free of charge from the state in 2002, and now the council has decided to convert the building into an administrative and training center. The reconstruction will cost nearly 200 million crowns, said the director of the regional office Jiří Crha to ČTK.

In Cejl, 40 offices will be created, in which about 80 to 90 officials will work. After the construction is completed in October 2008, employees currently based in rented premises will move there. The region will save on rent. The building will also house five equipped classrooms for the needs of the office employees.
Even after the reconstruction is completed, the main seat of the South Moravian Region will remain the architecturally valuable Zemský dům located at Žerotínovo náměstí, built between 1905 and 1907. However, it no longer sufficiently meets capacity needs. Instead of the original 85 officials, the regional authority now has nearly 600 employees.
