Jablonec nad Nisou - Jablonec nad Nisou is preparing insulation for additional school buildings amounting to approximately 28 million koruna. The insulation of the facades and roofs is expected to be completed this year for kindergartens located on Hřbitovní and Tichá streets, as well as for two pavilions of the Šumava Elementary School. In the Hřbitovní Kindergarten and the elementary school, windows will also be replaced, while the kindergarten in Tichá has already replaced its windows, Jana Fričová from the city hall told ČTK today.
"A new requirement for this year's reconstruction is the obligation to insulate along with the installation of forced ventilation with recuperation, which was not previously required and increases the cost of the reconstruction,” Fričová added. The city will finance the project using grants from the State Environmental Fund. However, it can obtain a maximum of 45 percent of the costs, with the remainder needing to be paid from its own budget. According to Fričová, work inside the schools is expected to take place during the holidays, and the work on the facades and roofs should be completed by October at the latest.
In recent years, Jablonec has invested millions of koruna in the insulation of school buildings. "All large pavilion schools in Jablonec have already been insulated - Liberecká, Mozartova, Arbesova, and Pasířská,” Fričová stated. The city now wants to focus on kindergartens.
The planned insulation of the Hřbitovní and Tichá kindergartens and the pavilions of the Šumava Elementary School is not the only project of its kind in the city. The city has also prepared a project to reduce energy consumption in 15 of the city's most energy-inefficient buildings, which include additional kindergartens, the municipal sports hall, and the swimming pool. The contractor for the project, costing 31 million koruna, is ENESA, which won the public competition. It guarantees an annual savings of around 3.8 million koruna in energy costs. "The company finances the modernization of systems in the buildings, and the city hall will then repay this over ten years from the saved money,” said Deputy Mayor Miloš Vele (ODS) to ČTK. The project focuses on modernizing heating systems.
