Prostejov - The abandoned nine-story lodging facility Strojař near the center of Přerov is once again for sale. The Ministry of Defense has offered it to interested parties for a minimum purchase price of 39.5 million crowns. Compared to the previous round, the amount has decreased by seven million crowns. The fate of the hotel is also closely observed by the city hall, which originally attempted to acquire it free of charge. The city is concerned that another social lodging facility will be created within it. The Ministry of Defense has offered Strojař in the fourth round of bidding. Originally, the army demanded 62 million crowns for it last January, the price then dropped to 55 million crowns, and in the third round, it was reduced to 46.5 million crowns. "The minimum required purchase price was set at 39.5 million crowns, and interested parties must pay a deposit of 100,000 crowns by August 20 and submit applications by August 25," said Jiří Caletka from the Ministry of Defense's press department to ČTK today. The ministry last offered Strojař for sale in June last year. It then halted the sale due to negotiations with the city. The city hall ultimately did not manage to acquire the property free of charge, and the representatives rejected the Ministry of Defense and Finance's offer to acquire the property preferentially for 40 million crowns this June. The councilors deemed the amount too high, and in addition, the city would have to agree to restrictive conditions. The city is concerned about its fate due to fears of the emergence of another social lodging facility. According to the spokesperson for the Přerov city hall, Lenka Chalupová, there were 17 lodgings in Přerov in the second quarter of the year, where 580 people found shelter, including 221 from outside Přerov. The 18th lodging with sixty residents opened in mid-July on Tovární Street. The majority of people living in lodgings are those who are unemployed and receive social benefits. According to the report from social workers, they pay an average of 4,000 crowns per month for a bed. According to representatives of the city hall, there are now concerns about the potential establishment of a facility for refugees in Strojař. "If such a facility were to be established in the city, the Ministry of the Interior would have to negotiate with city representatives. Furthermore, I personally believe that Strojař is objectively an unsuitable facility for housing refugees. It is in the city center, and the structural arrangement of the building excludes proper security with respect to the surroundings," stated Přerov Mayor Vladimír Puchalský (Together for Přerov). The soldiers left the Strojař lodging facility at the end of 2013. The property has 369 beds in 144 rooms and is accompanied by land with an area of 5,142 m².
