Deštné v Orlických horách (Rychnovsko) - The Mountain Rescue Service in Deštné v Orlických horách will open its new station during November. The building, costing approximately 5.5 million crowns, is already completed; the rescuers are still waiting to move into the new premises. This was stated by the chief of mountain rescuers in the Orlické Mountains, Josef Šifra. The Mountain Rescue Service built the new station, which includes a treatment room and technical facilities for rescuers, on a municipal plot near the existing building. The original building was too large and did not meet the requirements. "The new building will have lower operating costs," said Šifra. The Mountain Rescue Service in the Orlické Mountains has, in addition to its station in Deštné, also bases in Říčky in the Orlické Mountains and Čenkovice. "There is a new station in Říčky, and this year we are preparing project documentation for the reconstruction of the existing station in Čenkovice, because the traffic on Buková hora has increased significantly," said Šifra. There are also several smaller ski areas operating in the Orlické Mountains, but the mountain rescue service is not considering building bases there. "From our centers, we are able to provide assistance even in smaller areas, for example from Deštné we go to Šerlišský mlýn, Sedloňov, or Olešnice," said Šifra.
