Hradec Králové - The city of Hradec Králové will purchase the former textile factory and adjacent land in the city center for around 56 million crowns. The purchase was approved by the city council on Tuesday. A parking garage could potentially be built on part of the parcels, which are located near the regional office. The rest would be offered to investors. This was stated today by the deputy mayor of Hradec Králové, Josef Malíř.
The city hall's goal is to create a typically urban building environment in the area and to rid itself of unattractive factory complexes that do not fit into the city center. "We want this previously dead area to come to life and take on an urban character in every way. There could be, for example, shops and apartments," said Malíř.
The city will buy the factory building along with the land from the liquidator of the company Delen, which produced shirts there until the end of last year. The neighboring plots will be purchased from private individuals. Delen will receive 38 million crowns for the site, while individuals will receive 18 million crowns. Earlier, the city also purchased the former Vertex factory next to the regional office, which it plans to convert into a city library.
The city, which has an annual budget of around two billion crowns, also financially supported the demolition of a closed dairy plant in the city center near the Černigov Hotel two years ago. Eube is preparing the construction of a building with around 150 apartments, offices, shops, and a parking garage on the site of the dairy plant.
