The company Lidové domky wants to compensate its clients with money from the municipality

Prague - The company Lidové domky, which did not succeed in its extensive plan to build hundreds of houses in the village of Sibřina on the outskirts of Prague, is reportedly demanding over 80 million crowns from the municipality according to television Nova. The company owes about 35 million crowns to its clients and does not have the money to repay them. Therefore, it wants the municipality, which it blames for this situation, to cover the company's costs and lost profits, Nova reported today, noting that the annual budget of the municipality is only six million crowns.
    The company Lidové domky wanted to build 340 family houses in the village of Sibřina and had already collected tens of millions of crowns in deposits from clients. However, citizens opposed the construction and the municipal council definitively rejected the project at the end of July this year. Representatives of the company and the municipal leadership debated for several years over a change to the zoning plan that would allow the construction.
    The company allegedly spent the deposits of its approximately 250 affected clients and wants to compensate them with money it receives from the municipality. "Our company now feels wronged just like our clients, to whom representatives of the municipality also confirmed the future realization of the family houses," said the company's director Pavel Hric.
    However, the municipality rejects any claims from Lidové domky. "There is no legal claim to a change in the zoning plan, and it is entirely within the competence of the municipality to decide on this issue," said the mayor of Sibřina and Stupice, Jiří Šáda.
    The case, also reported today by Mladá fronta Dnes in its Prague edition, will likely end up in court, according to Nova.
