Prague – Two tower buildings in Prague 12-Kamýk will not be built; the Prague city council has halted the construction proceedings. The project does not meet the requirements for construction in the area. This was announced today by the spokesperson for Prague 12, Olga Novotná. The local council and residents opposed the construction planned by the company Trigema. In recent months, the Ministry for Regional Development also sided with them, deciding that the plan is in conflict with the zoning plan.

"The apartment building project of Two Towers did not receive a zoning decision because it exceeds the size requirements for construction in a stabilized area. This was confirmed by the Ministry for Regional Development, which decided that the project is not in accordance with the zoning plan," stated deputy mayor Eva Tylová (Greens).

The Two Towers project included two apartment buildings with 18 and 14 floors. They were to be located on Vosátková Street in the Kamýk housing estate instead of a low-rise shopping center. Residents and the local council opposed the construction, claiming it would be oversized, worsen lighting conditions in the surrounding apartments, and increase the number of cars, complicating parking. Additionally, mature trees were to be cut down for the building.
