The completion of the sports hall in Pardubice is delayed by the architect

Pardubice - The completion of the sports hall and surrounding sports facilities in Pardubice, which were meant to serve two high schools as well as the public, will be delayed by about a year. According to Deputy Governor Jan Tichý (ČSSD), the fault lies with the architect who designed the building. Architect Miroslav Petráň denies serious deficiencies in the project, he told ČTK.
    The county planned the commissioning of the sports hall for all indoor sports for this September. Given that the council canceled the tender and the entire process will start anew, the hall could be finished around the same time next year.
    "The companies that reported to the tender found 61 deficiencies. The comments were gradually addressed, but since the architect was on vacation for three months, he could not authorize them. The tender was not transparent; we had to cancel it," said Tichý.
    The county primarily wanted the construction to cost 65 million crowns, which the original project did not meet. The price of the completed sports facility was to be 83 million crowns.
    "The project was returned to me three times; I changed it according to the investor's requests. I deny serious deficiencies. However, it is true that I returned from vacation and do not know the current state from head to tail," Petráň told ČTK.
    The hall in Pardubice is missing, which athletes wanted to point out last year with a demonstration. Most likely, in mid-March, the county will announce a new tender. The winning contractor for the construction could be set by June. After completion, it would serve students in the morning, and in the afternoon, it would be used by, for example, futsal players, floorball players, basketball players, or volleyball players.
