To Staré Role, Karlovy Vary will gradually provide over 600 million CZK

Karlovy Vary - The city of Karlovy Vary will gradually invest over 600 million crowns in the development of the Staré Role district. Currently, the reconstruction of the People’s House is halfway through, the reconstruction of Karlovarská Street is being prepared, and especially the Závodu míru Street, which is the main traffic artery of this part of Karlovy Vary, as stated today to the journalists by the deputy mayor of Karlovy Vary, Petr Keřka.
    The reconstruction of the People’s House is expected to cost the city around 40 million crowns in total. The traditional hall, where concerts were held as well as graduation balls, was in a dilapidated state before the reconstruction. "The first phase, costing about 20 million, is almost complete. The plastering and flooring in the hall are finished, work on the fireproof ceiling, sound system, and electrical installations is underway," described the deputy mayor Tomáš Hybner.
    The second phase of the reconstruction will affect the main entrance area of the People’s House, the restaurant, and the small theater stage. According to the project, the work should cost between 15 to 20 million crowns.
    However, the reconstruction of the People’s House is just a smaller investment in Staré Role that the city of Karlovy Vary is preparing. After the construction of apartment buildings costing over 300 million crowns in previous years, the city is now preparing the reconstruction of roads and public spaces.
    The most expensive will be the reconstruction of Závodu míru Street, which will cost approximately 110 million crowns. In addition to the road itself, the city will also repair sidewalks, greenery, and build around 80 parking spaces. More than 40 additional parking spaces will be created on the connecting Karlovarská Street. The modifications of the roads are part of the Integrated Operational Plan, for which the city has obtained grants from the European Union. This financing also covers repairs of residential buildings in addition to public spaces.
