Today, the working team will discuss the National Library

Prague - A working team dealing with the situation surrounding the new building of the National Library will meet today at the residence of the Mayor of Prague. At the meeting, the team should already be reviewing the results of the work of individual expert groups. There are three, including heritage preservationists, architects, and lawyers.
    The team of architects is led by Martin Rajniš, the heritage preservationists by Ivan Muchka from the Institute of Art History of the Academy of Sciences, and the lawyers are chaired by attorney Aleš Pejchal. Pejchal, who serves as an advisor to President Václav Klaus and represents, for example, the Castle in the dispute over St. Vitus Cathedral or the National Gallery in Prague in a dispute with František Kinský, is among the commission members rumored to be politically motivated in their actions.
    However, Pejchal denies this, as does another commission member, Miroslav Jansta. Jansta often works for the city hall, sponsors the foundation of Zuzana Paroubková, and is also an advisor to the chairman of the ČSSD, Jiří Paroubek.
    In addition to the expert groups, the team includes the National Library's director Vlastimil Ježek, Mayor Pavel Bém (ODS), Deputy Minister of Culture František Mikeš, and the proposal's author Jan Kaplický.
    According to Bém, there are five issues related to the potential construction of the library according to Kaplický's study at the originally planned location in Letná. These are land, the zoning plan, adherence to the rules of the international architectural competition, heritage preservation considerations, and funds for construction.
