Plzeň - Tours of unique and otherwise usually inaccessible modern interiors will be available for interested parties in Plzeň. On Sunday, October 5, when Architecture Day takes place, a total of 11 buildings will be opened to them. The tours will be conducted by the users of the buildings and architects. People will visit, for example, the modern athletic stadium in Skvrňany, the Oncology Center of the Faculty Hospital in Plzeň, homes in Zruč, and the fire station in Košutka, said Marek Sivák from the Plzeň 2015 organization, which is organizing the event in Plzeň.

"This year we focused on contemporary Plzeň architecture through the eyes of creators and users," he stated. According to Sivák, the organization issued a public call some time ago for architects to register Plzeň buildings constructed after 1989, with responses being quite positive.
Among private buildings, a family house in Bručná will also be open, located behind a three-story building on a slope that houses the studio RAP architects. A renovated apartment in a house from the 1960s on Chválenická street in Plzeň's Slovany will also be accessible, where architects Jiří Zábran and Tereza Nová cleaned and brightened the layout and furnished the apartment with simple custom furniture setups that contrast with retro elements from the time the house was built.
Visitors will also view row houses in Zruč, which, according to Nová, are currently being completed, receiving a range of positive and negative reactions. "Architect Libor Monhart from the studio FACT will conduct tours of the villa Na Skalce, which is a new building from 2000 on the edge of the villa district by the Radbuza river. It is designed as two functionally and materially distinct volumes, namely a residential wooden 'bridge' made of glued construction and wooden beams, and a reinforced concrete tower," said Sivák.
Among the public buildings, there is the town hall in Slovany by the AVE studio and the central fire station by the same team, the oncology center of the faculty hospital, designed by a collective of authors from the K4 office, the restored brew house of Plzeňský Prazdroj, the building of the Faculty of History and Art Ladislav Sutnar, and the House of Music, where the final discussion will take place.
Tours will take place at 14:00, 15:00, and 16:00, lasting half an hour each. The capacity is always 20 to 30 people, and reservation is required. Architecture Day will take place in 55 Czech and Slovak cities, with 115 guided tours held.
