Jihlava - The October Day of Architecture will bring to the public in the Highlands the complex of the psychiatric hospital in Jihlava, designed by the significant functionalist architect Bohuslav Fuchs. Another of Fuchs's buildings, the city savings bank, will be explored by experts for interested parties in Třebíč. In the Žďár Hills, people can also see successful reconstructions of log cabins and the new construction of cottages, with a program also in Humpolec. This was communicated to ČTK by Silvie Marková on behalf of the festival organizers.

On October 3rd, architects will guide the public through the area of the Jihlava psychiatric hospital, which was also designed by Fuchs in the 1930s. In Třebíč, people will meet on Thursday, October 1st with city architect Jaroslav Hulin. The following day, they will visit the building of the city savings bank on Karlovo náměstí, built in the early 1930s. On Saturday, a meeting with the authors of the new extension of the Catholic gymnasium is prepared in Třebíč.

Guides for the interesting buildings of the Ždár Hills, from Tři Studně through Krátká and Kadov to Svratka, will be Petr and Štěpán Matějkovi and Jakub Zeman on October 3rd. This is the second year of the bus trip, and places need to be booked in advance. The program in Humpolec will offer family workshops focused on architecture on the first Saturday of October and a walk for architectural curiosities on October 7th.

This year, the Day of Architecture festival will be held for the tenth time, with a program prepared by over 100 towns and municipalities in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. During the first seven days of October, architects will invite the public to usually inaccessible places or present local architecture in new contexts. According to Marková, the organizers do not plan to cancel the festival due to the coronavirus, especially since the events are mainly outdoor activities. Any changes to the program will be published on the website.
