ČT has prepared a series about houses with an interesting history

Brno - A new documentary series about houses with remarkable histories and special atmospheres will be broadcast by Czech Television starting in January. The preparation of individual episodes of the series "Stories of Houses" will alternate studios in Brno, Prague, and Ostrava, as well as various directors. The first documentary was filmed by Robert Sedláček, the author of the feature film "Rules of Lies." It will be aired on January 2 in the evening, representatives of the Brno studio, where the pilot episode was created, told reporters.
    Sedláček chose the dilapidated complex of a castle and former monastery in the village of Pohled near Havlíčkův Brod. "For more than 700 years, Pohled was home to the smallest women's monastery in the country. For that long, the nuns were able to maintain the community solely based on a dream, a belief in something that no one can touch. That is a powerful story for me to reflect on," the director told ČTK.
    The monastery was devastated several times and was abolished during the Josephine reforms. After that, the building converted into a castle was inhabited by nobility, and after the war, the municipality acquired the complex, which housed a school and a cinema. At the beginning of this year, the dilapidated castle appeared in the offerings of a real estate agency. According to Sedláček, one can still feel the poignant history in the empty rooms of the castle and find traces of history.
    The documentary features a bishop, a priest, a mayor, historians, and witnesses. The same will be true in subsequent episodes of the series. People connected to the building will always speak, who lived in it or were interested in its history. The film crew will, for example, head to the Lucerna palace in Prague, to Libr's estate in Nedvězí, or to a Renaissance house in Pouzdřany.
