Prague - Czech Radio has completed the reconstruction of its historic building in Prague on Vinohradská Street. It was approved in April, and the radio station has now received the approval decision. Thus, a cohesive radio complex has emerged in Prague's Vinohrady, stated the press department of Czech Radio. The reconstruction of the historic headquarters of Czech Radio took place in several phases. The first phase occurred in 2004 and 2005. The second, which was more significant in scope, began in September 2007. After the reception and administrative part of the historic building of Czech Radio were opened in July 2009, the construction faced a stalemate due to long-standing unresolved issues. This situation was resolved after lengthy negotiations between the management of Czech Radio and the companies OHL ŽS and HOCHTIEF CZ, which were carrying out the reconstruction, in October 2010, when the parties signed an agreement to complete the reconstruction of the historic building. The reconstruction was originally supposed to finish more than a year ago and cost 524 million crowns. However, due to additional work, the price rose to 620 million, and Czech Radio also adjusted the completion deadline. According to the statement from Czech Radio’s press department, there is currently a dispute between the radio station and the reconstruction contractors regarding an additional financial amount, but Czech Radio does not wish to disclose its amount.
