Czech Post has received a second fine for the sorting facility in Ústí nad Labem

Brno - The Antimonopoly Office has imposed a second fine on Czech Post for violations in the construction of a collection transportation hub in Ústí nad Labem. In total, the penalties from the two administrative proceedings amount to 140,000 crowns. Martin Pecina, the chairman of the Office for the Protection of Competition (ÚOHS), told CTK today. The Post has closed several amendments to the contract worth 40 million crowns with the winner of the original tender, but according to the office, it should have announced new tender procedures.
The Post, according to its spokesperson Marta Selicharová, acknowledged its mistake and, like in the case of the first fine, will not appeal against the other fine of 40,000 crowns.
The first fine of 100,000 crowns was imposed on the Post by the office in mid-November last year. The decision is already final. The Antimonopoly Office is still investigating other contracts for additional orders for the construction of the hub in Ústí, but has not yet concluded the administrative proceedings.
In 2007, when taking over the agenda from the discontinued branches, the Post discovered that the regional management had not proceeded in accordance with the Public Procurement Act during the construction of the collection transportation hub in Ústí nad Labem. Therefore, the Post suspended the construction and informed the ÚOHS. The new management of Czech Post has, according to the spokesperson, taken measures so that a similar case cannot happen again.
