The former Food House in the center of Zlín will open in September

Zlín - The reconstruction of the Zlín Shopping Center, which is being created by transforming the former Food House in the city center, will be completed on July 30. The ceremonial opening is planned by the Moravian Bank, which owns the building, for September. The investment in the modernization of the building reached several tens of millions of crowns, said Ivo Lapčík, a member of the company's board.
    The Alfa Shopping Center was acquired by the Moravian Bank in an auction in 2008. The company paid 110 million crowns for one of the largest department stores in Zlín, while the estimated property value was nearly 38 million lower.
    The Alfa Shopping Center, which was built in the early 1980s, is located in an attractive area of the city center between Tomáš Baťa Boulevard and Kvítková Street. It housed retail stores such as a drugstore, furniture store, textile shop, grocery, and also restaurants. However, the building was in relatively poor technical condition, with problems with the roof and the glass part of the facade.
    The project includes a complete reconstruction of the existing building, including the replacement of the facade cladding, and also includes construction modifications of the adjacent part of the underpass beneath one of Zlín's main streets. "It will definitely be a new modern landmark in the center of Zlín. It will offer a more attractive environment. The entire surroundings of the building will also be enhanced with various park modifications, sidewalk improvements, and parts of the underpass. It will offer completely barrier-free access," added Lapčík.
    Services offered to customers in the building will include a TESCO Express store, butcher shop, bakery, textile and consumer goods stores, fast food, and a wine shop. People will also find services in the area of personal care, healthcare, and wellness.
