Brno – The city of Brno will announce a tender for the director of the Jiří Mahen Library as well as for the director of the Tourist Information Center of the city of Brno (TIC). This will happen in the autumn, said the councilor for culture Marek Fišer (Pirates) to reporters today. The coalition wants to carry out tenders for all directors after five years of their term. The director of the Jiří Mahen Library, Libuše Nivnická, ended her term last December. She has been leading the library since 1996. Jana Janulíková has been leading the TIC since 2015.

For directors with indefinite contracts, an evaluation of their term takes place every five years. The Brno councilors today acknowledged the evaluation of Nivnická's five-year term. "I highly appreciate her work. The library, under her leadership, is a quality place that supports the functioning of the community, provides opportunities for education, and promotes the development of democracy and civil society," said councilor for culture Marek Fišer (Pirates).

According to him, the library has also been successfully developed into a cultural, informational, and educational center. "It also managed to withstand the difficult year 2020 when the library was not functioning at all or only in a limited borrowing mode; other activities were transferred to the online space," Fišer said.

Brno has held tenders for directors of several organizations. For example, the director of the observatory Jiří Dušek defended his position, while in the Museum of the City of Brno, Zbyněk Šolc replaced Pavel Ciprian after 17 years.
