Brno will build a new home with care services

Brno - A new home with care services will be built on Mlýnská Street in Brno. It will consist of 22 apartments. Construction is expected to begin this March and will cost around 45 million crowns. Brno will fund it from the housing construction fund. This was stated today by the mayor's deputy, Klára Liptáková (KDU-ČSL).
    The city hall is selecting the contractor for the project, which will build the building at the corner of Mlýnská and Čechyňská streets on a plot of nearly 500 m². "We want to start construction in March. Inside there will be 22 apartments ranging from 1+kk to 3+kk. Four of the apartments will be barrier-free," said Liptáková. In addition, administrative and social spaces for care services and parking spaces in front of the building will be included.
    The costs of around 45 million will be covered by the city. "We will allocate money from the housing construction fund," said Liptáková. The city obtains money for the fund by selling houses and apartments. A majority of the funds must be spent on the construction of other houses or on costs related to housing issues.
    According to Liptáková, it is necessary to keep seniors in mind. "In the future, this is a political task for all representations. We know that the population is aging and extremely so in Brno. Surveys suggest that Brno is expected to become the oldest city in the Czech Republic, despite being a university city," Liptáková pointed out.
    Brno has nearly fifty homes with care services that offer almost a thousand apartments. In addition, there are about twenty senior homes in Brno with a capacity of over 2000 beds. However, the city is still registering the same number of applicants for placement in these facilities.
