BRNO - The Brno City Council is preparing a project aimed at establishing a gallery of sculptures of prominent figures associated with Brno in the city center within ten years. The city has allocated two million crowns for the project and will announce a public competition. Two sculptures are to be created each year, with the first being Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart at the Vegetable Market. Richard Svoboda, the mayor, stated this to ČTK. According to him, the council prefers sculptures directly in the streets of Brno, thus in contact with people. "They should not be any monuments on high pedestals," said the mayor. The artworks should illustrate the city's great historical wealth and bring it to life for citizens. The contribution to tourism will also be significant. Svoboda mentioned that one sculpture costs approximately around one million crowns, and all artists will be able to participate in the selection process for their creation. The construction of a number of sculptures should not be sporadic. "Gradually, an interesting color will emerge combining history and notable figures," the mayor described his vision.
