Brno - The House of Art in Brno has a new logo. It symbolizes that this institution is dedicated to modern art. The logo is created by a computer and is constantly changing. It takes the shape of a circle, which is continuously disrupted by time. Additionally, it constantly changes colors. The computer application can create up to 2.5 million various versions of the logo. Graphic designers acknowledge that the intention is bold, but it also has its disadvantages.
"The logo does not conform to classical concepts of an unchanging brand. It is interesting because it captures the focus of the House of Art as an institution dedicated to contemporary and modern art," said Barbora Antonová, a staff member of the institution, to ČTK. She admitted that the logo is bold and breaks the commonly used rule that it should not be variable.
The logo of the House of Art changes continuously. The circle is disrupted by imaginary clock hands inside the object. Along with the change in shape, the color of the logo also changes. The transformation symbolizes the status of the House of Art, said designer Petr Babák, whose students Petr Bosák and Robert Jansa created the new logo for the Brno cultural institution.
"It is an extravagance that could also harm the House of Art," warns designer Markéta Hudečková. She insists that the logo should be unchanging to be easily recognizable and memorable. According to her, consumers might be confused by the current logo.
However, Antonová is completely satisfied with the work of Borák and Jansa. It is an unmistakable, modern, and timeless brand, she stated. Its creators will present the logo at a workshop that will take place on Thursday at the House of Art on Dominican Street.
