Architects and designers will present themselves in Ostrava at PechaKucha Night

Ostrava - Leading Czech architects and designers will present their ideas next Saturday in Ostrava at the PechaKucha Night event, which takes place around the world. A total of 15 personalities from architecture, design, and photography will present during the program, said Pavel Polok on behalf of the event organizers to ČTK.
He added that the presentation is primarily intended to serve as inspiration. "It is not about a boring summary of work, but about the presentation of new ideas, bringing ideas closer, and conveying the experiences of the presenter. The impressions and reflections left by the presentations can be further developed after their conclusion," Polok stated, mentioning that attendees will have the opportunity to discuss further not only with other participants or organizers but also with the creators.
According to Polok, it will always be a presentation of 20 images, with each commentary limited to 20 seconds. "Therefore, one presentation can last a maximum of six minutes and 40 seconds, which ensures a quick pace and overall liveliness of the program. This is also the only limiting rule for the presenters. It is not stated that the presentations must exclusively be about art, design, or architecture," Polok explained.
The event will feature, for example, one of the best Czech graphic designers of today, Petr Babák, who won the award for Graphic Designer of the Year 2009 and Grand Designer of the Year 2009 at the Grand Czech Design awards. The architectural office SIAL - the authors of this year's Czech pavilion at EXPO - will also be represented. Czech designer Daniel Piršč, who has made a name for himself with his handmade porcelain production, will also present. More information about the event can also be found on the website www.pkno.cz.
The first PechaKucha Night meeting took place in 2003 in Tokyo, initiated by architects Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham from Klein-Dytham Architecture studio. The event became a hit and began to spread around the world. It is still held in Tokyo today. PechaKucha Nights are regularly held on all continents in more than three hundred cities.
