The publishing house Suture Press, the Institute of Philosophy of the Czech Academy of Sciences, and Galerie VI PER cordially invite you to a one-day workshop Architecture and Revolution? Situating Theory of Architecture on the Left.
Since the protest movements of the 1960s, architectural theory has developed in close dialogue with continental philosophy and social sciences. The workshop will explore leftist currents in architectural thinking and pose the question of which texts could help us reflect on the current crisis in architecture and urbanism. Significant historians and theorists of architecture, such as Mary McLeod, Joan Ockman, Mark Crinson, Hilde Heynen, Luka Skansi, Andrew Leach, Monika Mitášová, Michael Hauser, and Jana Ndiaye Beránková, will bring closer the ideas of Henri Lefebvre, Manfredo Tafuri, Kenneth Frampton, and representatives of the so-called Frankfurt School.
Moderated by Juliana Sokolová, Lynda Zein, Jana Ndiaye Beránková, and Jiří Šobr.
The event is organized by the Institute of Philosophy of the Czech Academy of Sciences in cooperation with Galerie VIPER and the publishing house Suture Press.
