Břeclav - By the end of this year, the Temple of Apollo should regain its original appearance - a historical object that is one of the well-known excursion sites in the Lednice-Valtice area in Břeclav. The reconstruction of the building with viewing terraces will cost 6.5 million crowns. According to conservationists, it is possible that tourists will be able to visit the site by the end of the summer season.
"Work began last year. Now it is necessary to complete the facades, and especially to restore the statues with ancient scenes that adorn the temple," said today to ČTK the curator of Lednice Castle, Ivana Holásková. She emphasized that the structure has been deteriorating for decades.
The temple, reminiscent of the ancient god Apollo, is according to the mayor of Břeclav, Dyma Piškula, the last historical object from the Lednice-Valtice area located in the city’s cadastre that needs repairs. "The money for them has already been promised. The restored temple will certainly attract more tourists," the mayor told reporters today.
The object is one of the salas - free-standing buildings that were once constructed to architecturally beautify the surroundings of the castle in Lednice, which is surrounded by a thirty-hectare park.
The Temple of Apollo, the ancient god of light and music, was built on the banks of the Mlynský stream in 1817 as an observation point. Nearby, you can find another 14 historical excursion sites.
