The Antimonopoly Office already has a single headquarters for 260 million

Brno - The Antimonopoly Office has, for the first time in its 17-year history, a single headquarters. The renovation and extension of the building on Captain Jaroš Avenue in the center of Brno cost around 260 million crowns. The older building has been in use since last year, and the extension, where the remaining officials have moved in, was ceremonially opened today. The entire complex can accommodate over 120 officials.
    Since its establishment in 1991 until last year, the office was located in the premises of the Constitutional Court. Both institutions thus worked under cramped conditions. The freed offices on Joštova Street are now being used by judges' assistants and court administration.
    The building of the military administration, which served as a girls' boarding house at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, was transferred to the Office for the Protection of Competition free of charge by the Ministry of Defense. They decided to add a new part to the original section so that all officials, including employees from the dissolved Prague branch and the office's archives, could be in one location. In addition to offices and storage facilities, the extension costing 90 million crowns includes a conference hall where the office intends to hold professional seminars.
    The office searched for a new headquarters for several years, considering various offers. The Brno City Hall offered a plot of land on Academic Square, but the estimated investment of 400 million significantly exceeded the planned budget. Similar to the renovation of the dilapidated City Courthouse on Šilingrovo Square. Offers from the regional office and the Moravian Gallery to purchase land on Údolní Street and a building on Orlí Street also did not go through.
