Only a few days remain until the deadline for applications for the competition for young European artists "2013 Young European Artist Award Trieste Contemporanea". The deadline is Tuesday, November 26, 2013; no entry fee is required.
The Trieste Contemporanea committee has been awarding this prize to a young artist from Central and Eastern Europe annually since 1999. The aim is to promote the winner's work on the international art scene. For the first time this year, a call for applications has been announced. The prize is intended for young artists under the age of thirty, from all fields, born in one of the following countries: Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Czech Republic, Estonia, Croatia, Italy, Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary, Macedonia, Moldova, Germany, Poland, Austria, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia, Turkey, and Ukraine.
The award will provide the winner with the opportunity to create a concept and organize an exhibition/project at the Studio Tommaseo gallery in Trieste; as well as publish a monographic catalog. In special cases, an alternative scholarship of 2,000 Euro may be awarded to support the winner's artistic research (instead of the usual prize in the form of an exhibition and catalog). Valid applications will be evaluated by a panel of judges composed of European experts and curators of contemporary art, who are members of the Continental Breakfast organization.
