In Vienna, a skyscraper 220 meters tall will be built

Vienna - The panorama of Vienna will undergo a significant transformation over the next four years. In the multifunctional urban area of Donau City on the banks of the Danube, the tallest skyscraper in Austria will be built. It will measure 220 meters and will be twice as high as the tallest building in the Czech Republic, City Tower in Prague's Pankrác, which measures 109 meters.
    In the modern heart of Vienna, two skyscrapers will be constructed, creating a new majestic "gate" into the northeastern urban district. The tower building DC Tower Nummer I will exceed the tallest Austrian skyscraper to date, Millennium Tower on the Danube waterfront Handelskai, by 18 meters at 220 meters. Next to it will rise a second skyscraper, which will reportedly appear like a dwarf beside the "one" at a height of 160 meters. The main skyscraper will have 58 floors, while its smaller "sibling" will have 46.
    The towers were designed by the renowned French architect Dominique Perrault, the author of the French National Library François Mitterrand in Paris. The buildings are intended to serve as residential and hotel complexes. They are scheduled for completion in 2010.
    Donau City also includes the well-known complex of administrative buildings UNO City, which was opened in 1979 as the "third headquarters" of the UN.
