Vienna - An exhibition of Czech Cubism will open in Vienna on June 30, held in the Art Nouveau building of the Postal Savings Bank Museum Wagner:Werk. Until August 29, visitors will be able to familiarize themselves with the furniture and architecture of Czech cubists. The museum informed about this on its website. According to the APA agency, this will be the first time that Czech cubist furniture will be exhibited in Austria.

The exhibition titled "cubiCZmus! Deconstruction of Modernity in Prague" will showcase works by Pavel Janák, Josef Gočár, and other personalities. The exhibits come from the collections of the Prague Museum of Decorative Arts.
According to the exhibition's authors, there is no more suitable environment for showcasing Czech Cubism than the Art Nouveau building of the Vienna Postal Savings Bank. The space invites confrontation with the angular creations of Czech artists.
The museum stated on its website that Czech cubists renounced functionality and practicality. Their goal was a new form that corresponded to their philosophy. They deconstructed furniture into building parts and created shapes that defied statics. Slanted and inclined sections had to be reinforced to support the weight of bulky pieces, the exhibition's authors wrote.
The exhibition can be viewed from Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. It will be closed on Sundays. Entrance costs five euros (about 130 crowns). Children, seniors, students, and groups pay 3.5 euros (about 90 crowns) for a ticket.
