A memorial for the 52 victims of the London bombings that occurred on July 7, 2005, will be created in the northeast corner of London's Hyde Park.

The memorial will consist of 52 steles, each symbolizing one victim. The steles will be grouped into four clusters representing the four terrorist attacks. They will have a square footprint with sides measuring 15-18 cm and a height of 3 m. They will be cast from durable stainless steel, and each stele is intended to be unique.
The design is by the studio Carmody Groarke, which won the competition last November that was submitted by thirty designs (by the way, their design for the Czech National Library placed 2nd in last year's competition). The firm Arup, landscape architect Colvin Moggridge, and artist Antony Gormley were involved in the design, and feedback from representatives of the victims' families was also taken into account.
The memorial is expected to begin implementation this autumn, with its unveiling planned for July 7, 2009.
