Reconstruction of the Dresden Erlweinspeicher

In Dresden, on the left bank of the Elbe between Kulka's Landestag and the new congress center by Hanover architects Storch, Ehlers und Partner, stands a historic building of the city warehouse from 1914. The impressive reinforced concrete skeleton structure (width 36 m, length 76 m, height 40 m) was eventually named after the city councilor and architect Hans Jakob Erlwein, who had it built. Since November 2004, the warehouse has been undergoing a complete renovation into a four-star Maritim hotel with 321 rooms and 654 beds. Yesterday, the building was ceremonially handed over for use.
