On Tuesday, January 9, 2007, the Stuttgart office of Behnisch Architekten announced that at the end of December 2006, they, together with Harder Stumpfl Architekten, won an international competition for the project of residential buildings and two multifunctional structures referred to as ‘Club Resort’ and ‘Guest Resort’. The architects themselves describe their project as follows: “The strong economic development of Kazakhstan goes hand in hand with a rapidly rising demand for quality housing. The design of the development on this attractively oriented land fits into the local topography, and the overall concept relates to the landscape and its rivers and vegetation. The ‘Guest Resort’ and ‘Club Resort’ offer social functions such as fitness studios, cafés, restaurants, a cinema, a kindergarten, and a swimming pool. The project was designed according to ecological criteria.”Link>
