Museum of Literature by David Chipperfield

Today, the Literature Museum by British minimalist David Chipperfield was ceremoniously opened in Marbach, Germany. More precisely, it is a new building of the Deutsches Literaturarchiv neighboring the historic Schiller-Nationalmuseum, where collections focused on 20th-century literature will be publicly showcased. The museum's location and form evoke the Greek Acropolis or rather the Walhalla, which is closer to the Germans. It combines deeply thought-out operations, time-tested aesthetics, skillful handling of light, and a fortunate connection of the building with the surrounding landscape. Visitors can view the currently empty building until November 18. The first of the long-term exhibitions will open here on June 6, 2006. More information - here.
